U.S. Veteran. Robert Raymond Engel, of Lemay and south county, died Aug. 2 at de Greeffe Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Engel (nee Brady) and a dear father and grandfather. Born Jan. 8, 1929, in Lemay to Arthur and Pearl (nee Schantz) Engel, Mr. Engel was a U.S. Navy veteran and a supervisor for Laclede Gas. He is survived by his wife and his son Brad Engel of Oakville, and daughter Paula Christmann of south county, and grandchild James Barron of Lemay and wife, Sara and great-grandchild Faith Barron of Lemay. He is also survived by brothers Lester (Bud) Engel and Arthur Engel Jr., and sisters Delores McClellan and Dorris Riel of Imperial. Mr. Engel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Interment was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
