Obituary For Richard J. Gerbin
Richard J. Gerbin died peacefully in his sleep on January 10, 2024 after a long, heroic battle with cancer and other health issues during which his positive attitude and determination will be an enduring testament to his spirit.
Born in St. Louis, MO on May 1,1944, he graduated from Mercy High school in 1962.
Surviving to cherish his memory is “the love of his life” for 56+ years, his wife, Mary Ann. His beloved children, Angela Downs (Mark), Antoinette Owens (Gerry), Ann Marie Gerbin (Chris), and John Gerbin (Helen). Proud PaPa of Max, Sam, Mia Rose, Annelise, Ian, and Herc. Son of the late Victor and Helen Gerbin. Brother of Robert Gerbin and Marilyn Tumminia. He was a beloved uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, godfather, and friend to many.
Rich greeted people with his wry sense of humor. Every day was a gift to him. He was a proud past member of Lions International and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a member of the Ozark Fly Fishing Club and the Society of the Madonna Della Rocca. He enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking, and slot machines. He loved history and politics, never missing a chance to vote or watch a debate on TV. We will miss his commentaries on life. Above all, he loved his family and friends. Rich lived each day fully and leaves a world made better by his presence and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Our thanks to the caring staff at MoBap Cancer Center and the VA Health Centers for their kindness over the years.
