Obituary For Rachel A McFarland

Burial Date: December 1, 2020. Rachel Ann McFarland, 36, of Fort Hood, Texas, died Wednesday, Nov. 18 at MD Anderson in Houston after a long-fought, courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Myron McFarland; her caring and adoring mother, Mary C. Loscomb; siblings, Donna Loscomb, Susan Boyd, Robert Loscomb, Allen Loscomb and Mark Loscomb; sibling-in-laws, Eric Patkowski, LaVada and Shauna Mitchell, Pamela McFarland and Eric and Krystyna Young; her nieces and nephews; her beloved dog Macy and her cherished horse, Ahmbience; as well as extended family and friends near and far. She is preceded in death by her father John Loscomb and grandparents,Clayton “Sarge” and Anna Cugler and Plink and Sue Loscomb. Rachel was born Jan. 27, 1984 in Carroll County, Maryland. She grew up and went to school in Laurel, Delaware. She excelled in school where she enjoyed learning new things. Her childhood hobbies included reading, fishing, working alongside her Grandpa Cugler in his woodshop and cooking with her Grandma Cugler. Rachel had a full career as a licensed professional counselor. She received her master’s degree in family counseling from Texas A&M University. She began her career working for the Cameron Boys Ranch and CPS in Bell County. Afterwards, she worked as a resident director at a full-time teen girls ranch specializing in equine therapy. She then continued her work at DePelchin Foster Care Agency and then onto Georgetown Behavioral Health. Her career continued at Alfred Hughes Unit in Gatesville Correctional Facility as a case manager. Rachel showed her heart for others and love for horses volunteering her time at Tyson’s Corners Equine Therapy Program in Lampasas, Texas. Some of Rachel’s favorite past time included spending time with her horse, going to rodeos, taking pictures, playing guitar and going on drives with her husband through the countryside to the see the cattle and bluebonnets when in season. Rachel enjoyed going to church at Vista Community Church in Temple, Texas. She was blessed to have the love and support of her small group and church family. While she will be dearly missed, her love will live on in those whose lives she touched. A public visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S. Fort Hood Road, Killeen, Texas, followed by a private, family-only visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Vista Community Church, 7051 Stonehollow, Temple.
