U.S. Veteran. Peter O. McGauly, 77, was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church May 3 at Delmar Gardens in south county. Born in St. Louis, Mr. McGauly resided in St. Louis city, Florissant, Oakville and Fenton. He was employed by St. Louis Trust, Centene and Boatmens Bank. He was a member of Sacred Heart-Valley Park and St. Francis of Assisi in Oakville. Brother to Henry (Hank) and Lilly Mateja and Pat (Frank) Howard.He was the beloved husband of his wife of 27 years, Dolores Spotti Bowyer McGauly and the late Dolores McGauly (nee Lohmann); loving father of Karen (Herb) Fischer and the late James Scott, Kimberly Ann and Robert Peter McGauly; dear grandfather of Eric and Michael Fischer; dear stepfather of Karen May and Diana (Chris) Wagner; dear step-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. McGauly was a member of American Legion Post 400, Sacred Heart ChurchValley Park for 27 years, Fish Fry Chairman, and retired from banking at St. Louis Trust Co., Centere Bank, and Bank of America. A funeral service was held at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Saturday, May 12 at 9:15 a.m. and then at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Valley Park) for 10 a.m. mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Vincent De Paul Society at Sacred Heart Church (Valley Park) are appreciated. Visitation was the following Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. Burial was in St. Peter and Paul. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Clare Hospital and Delmar Gardens South for their loving care, all who came to the wake, and for the flowers, cards, condolences, prayers, messages, calls and support from loving family and good friends.
