Obituary For Luis Cantu

Luis Cantu, (75), of Eureka, Missouri, passed away on July 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Luis leaves behind a wife of 49 years, Leticia Cantu, and four children: Lisa (Jason) Wells, Chris (Neeta) Cantu, Michael Cantu, and Stacy Cantu. He was also a proud “Papa” to his five grandchildren: Lucas Wells, Ella Cantu, Emma Cantu, Keira Harris, and Tristan Harris. He is also survived by his brother Anselmo (Lucy) Cantu Jr. of Frisco, TX and sister Mary Hellen (Paul) De La Rosa of San Benito, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anselmo Cantu, and his mother Raquel S. Cantu (nee Guzman). Luis’ love and dedication to his family were evident in every aspect of his life and he will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.

Luis was born on June 12, 1949, in San Benito, Texas. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, Luis attended North Texas State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree and later earned his MBA from Webster University. While attending college, he met his wife and was married on March 21, 1975.

Luis worked at Southwestern Bell/AT&T as an IT Project Manager for over 25 years. After his retirement from Southwestern Bell, he enjoyed a second career as a real estate agent at Coldwell Banker Gundaker where his friendly and outgoing personality served him well. He enjoyed meeting new people and guiding clients through the home buying/selling process.

When not working Luis loved spending time with his family, traveling, and supporting his beloved Missouri Tigers. He often traveled to Columbia, Missouri to attend football games with his children and considered himself an honorary alumni of the University of Missouri.
