Obituary For Laurentine V. Wallach

Laurentine V. Wallach, 62, of Crestwood, died Jan. 23, 2025, after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Laurentine (Laurie) was born Jan. 21, 1963, to Shirley VanGilder and to the late Robert E. VanGilder.

Laurie is survived by her beloved spouse, Darryl Wallach; her mother, Shirley VanGilder; her brother, Robert J. VanGilder; her Uncle Roy DeClue; her in-laws, Jerry and Barbara Wallach, Daniel and Alice Woodruff, Dennis (the late) Debbie Wallach, and Glenn Wallach.

She was a dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Laurie worked at SSM Health for 37 years, retiring on Nov. 29, 2024. Though her disease continued to progress while under hospice care, she continued to work. Laurie had a smiling presence and was loved by her co-workers. She was a positive influence, a beacon of sunshine, hope and encouragement, and was someone who had the knack of turning around what might be a hostile discussion into a joyful environment.

Laurie loved life, but more importantly, she loved family. Her family will miss the drives along Grants Farm, admiring the beautiful, majestic Clydesdales.

A visitation will be held on Feb. 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 5347 Donovan Ave., followed by a service at noon. Times of Sharing will take place at 12:45 p.m., with a luncheon in Ascension’s cafeteria to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri or Long Meadow Rescue Ranch.
