Obituary For Larry A Woehr
U.S. Veteran. Larry Albert Woehr, 70, of St. Louis, died Nov. 9 in St. Louis. Born Sept. 21, 1949 in St. Louis, Larry was the son of Albert Edward Woehr and Rea Christine (nee McManmie) Woehr. On Oct. 30, 1949, he was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran, and on Palm Sunday 1963 at Peace Lutheran Church he confirmed his faith. He attended Peace Lutheran Elementary until it merged with Green Park Lutheran School from which he graduated in 1963. In 1967 he graduated from Mehlville High School. He enlisted in the Marines in September 1967 serving until 1971 and was deployed in Vietnam in 1968. He then served in the Navy from 1974 to 1977, where he was on a submarine in several countries. Larry was employed for 38 years as a maintenance supervisor for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He truly enjoyed working at Shriners, and the people he worked for. Larry was joined in marriage to Doris Milleville Nov. 5, 1983. They were blessed with two children, Kristin Elizabeth Woehr du Bruyn and Andrew Jacob Woehr. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors, riding his bike, reading, problem solving and improving things. As a loving husband and father, and a diligent and conscientious employee, Larry will be remembered as a tranquil and unobtrusive soul who patiently and quietly responded to the needs of others in the workplace and most important the home. He experienced good health until being diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017, after which he underwent surgical and therapeutic procedures. However, the cancer came back several times. On Nov. 2, he was admitted to Missouri Baptist Medical Center where he remained until admission to Evelyn’s Hospice House on Saturday, Nov. 9. It was there later that day at 6:07 p.m. that he quietly departed this life at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Edward and Rea Christine Woehr of St. Louis and his older sister Rea Marie Crain of Madison, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Doris Woehr; their children, Kristin (Hentus) du Bruyn, of Busan, South Korea and Andrew Woehr of Denver. He is also survived by his siblings Duane (Jonette) Woehr, Diane Woehr, Vivian (Joe) Bollinger and Leanord (husband of the deceased Rea Crain nee Woehr). He is further survived by his bothers and sisters-in-law Larry (Patricia) Milleville, Karen Dall, Kenneth (Judy) Milleville, Timothy (Deanna) Milleville and Randy (Rosa) Milleville as well as his uncle and aunt Roger (Chris) McManmie. Services were held at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at a later date.
