Burial Date: March 21, 2020. John Louis Messmer, 78, of St. Louis, died on his 78th birthday, Feb. 27. He was born Feb. 27, 1942, to Andrew and Meta Messmer. He married Bene Messmer (nee Benedek) on Aug. 31, 1963. Beloved husband of Bene Messmer for 56 years; loving father of Kimberly (Scott) Haley, Christine (Mark) Garcia, Shauna (James) Reed; loving grandfather to Shane and Dylan Haley, Mattea (Kanoa) Reed Benz, Zsophia and Challia Reed; dear son of the late Andrew and Meta Messmer; loving brother to 15 siblings; uncle, cousin and friend to all he met. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to travel. He also volunteered for the St. Louis Dream Factory which grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children. Johns faith in God was immeasurable. He will be missed today, tomorrow and until we are together. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 21.
