Obituary For James B Hefner

James Bryan Hefner, 61, of St. Louis, died Oct. 16 following a short but hideous battle with brain cancer, Glioblastoma. He will be missed by his mother, Kathryn (nee Reed) Hefner, sister Susan (Russ) Johnson, brother John Linard (Launa) Hefner, niece Shelby, nephews Hunter, Christopher and Johnhenry, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his best friend Ruffles. He was preceded in death by his father, James Linard Hefner. Jim loved anything of an outdoor nature and all federal state and county Parks. He was an Ozark Trails Volunteer. He liked hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, camping, searching for Morels and paw paws with Ruffles in tow and enjoyed the search for good wine and good food. Soccer was his favorite sport. He played through Mehlville High School and used scholarships to play at McKendree College and St. Louis University. Soccer took him to many countries and states. He also played for a Christian mission group named Sports Life out of Tacoma, Washington and played on local elite teams too. He was looking forward to the new soccer stadium in St. Louis. His jobs included working at Sinclair/Rush through high school and college, and 25 years as a Chemist at Sigma Aldridge Chemical Co. He also worked for a couple of years at wineries in Washington, Missouri. Visitation was held Saturday Oct, 23, 2021, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel.
