Burial Date: October 10, 2021. Gloria A. Calloway (nee Carlson), of Imperial, died Thursday, Sept. 23. Gloria was born Jan. 17, 1935 to Elmer and Alma (nee Johnson) Carlson in Monterey, Minnesota. She grew up with her two sisters living the farm life in Minnesota. Gloria attended business school and worked for Bunge Corporation for over 40 years before retirement. She was the beloved wife of Jerry Calloway for 51 years and the loving mother of Tara (Chris) Archer and Tracy (Matt) Ladd; proud and cherished grandmother of Caden, Trenton, Addison, Nolan and Lucy; sister to Judy (Jerry) Sandberg and the late Donna (Dick) Anderson; sister-in-law to Jackie Calloway and Kay Calloway. A treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews, cousin and friend. Gloria and Jerry loved to travel and after retirement they enjoyed many cruises and winters in Florida. Gloria was a graceful woman with an infectious smile. She had a strong faith and was compassionate and resilient. She was still living independently in the home she raised her family in until her death. Gloria was a great cook, she loved to read and to chat over coffee with her daughters. She loved spending holidays and summer vacations together with her family. She would often say that one of her greatest joys in life was her time with her grandkids. Gloria lived a long and full life and we will always carry her memory in our hearts. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 10 at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road from noon to 1 p.m. A celebration of life will follow the service.
