Obituary For Don Range

Don Range, 89, died April 7, 2024.

He was born April 6, 1935, in south St. Louis to Aloysious “Ollie” and Mildred Range.

Don is preceded in death by his siblings, Joan, Richard “Dick” and Kenny Range.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Knobbe Range; his children Daniel and Douglas (Pamela) Range; and his grandchildren, Louis and Samuel; loving uncle to many.

Don was born in South St. Louis and went to school and played soccer at OLS and SLUH. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He played soccer for SLU, winning NCAA Soccer Championship in 1959 and 1960. He was the NCAAs Most Valuable Forward in 1960. He also played for amateur soccer teams including Bilgeres, CSMAC, Kutis, St. Ambrose, Thurmers, and St. Louis Stars – as player and coach. Don became a proud member of The St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame and STL Soccer Hall of Fame Facebook page.

He earned a Master's in Social Work at SLU in 1977, loved to travel, and lived in MO, MT, AZ, WY and OR. His ashes will be spread on the Oregon coast where he lived and thrived for decades.
