Anna Elaine Wernig (nee Becker), 77, of St. Louis, died Friday, June 26 at Mercy Hospital South. Elaine was born July 25, 1942 in St. Louis to Lloyd S. Becker and Gladys Brown. She married Daniel Wernig Nov. 9, 1974 in St. Louis. Elaine grew up in Arnold and was a 1960 graduate of Fox Senior High School. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her family raved about her spaghetti sauce, and she made preparing large holiday dinners look easy. A selfless person, she always looked out for the need of her family over her own. Elaine was also an avid animal lover, especially dogs. She always made sure her dogs were well cared for, even cooking their own specialty meals at times She was a loving aunt, cousin and friend. Survivors include children Laura (Ben Null) of St. Louis and Darin Wernig of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren Brandon and Brycen; brothers Lloyd M. Becker of Columbia, South Carolina, and Stephen Wernig. Services will be private. Burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in Elaines name can be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Humane Society of Missouri.
