Oakville Tigers head girls volleyball coach Luke Allen has coached volleyball for 14 years, going on eight at Oakville.

The Tigers finished the 2025 season with a record of 15-17-1, but Allen says that doesn’t reflect how hard the athletes work.

“I think we should be an over .500 team this year, we just play a lot of tough schools,” he said. “It’s intentionally put that way because (the team) will grow more the better competition that we play.”

There are 12 players on the team, four new to varsity, all of whom Allen says gel well together.

“I really like this group. They’re supportive, they’re loud and they encourage each other,” he said. “It was great seeing the girls, knowing that they are the varsity group, interacting with each other and interacting with the freshmen. I think this will be a group that 100% supports each other through successes or failures.”

Allen pointed to two returning players expected to make a big impact on the court to watch out for this season.

Evelyn Haarmann, one of four seniors, is an outside hitter. She ended the 2025 season with 333 kills, 30 total blocks and a hitting percentage of .202.

Sophomore Lana Bakrac is a right-side hitter. She ended the 2025 season with 204 kills, 52 total blocks, and a hitting percentage of .171.

The Tigers will open the season on Aug. 27 with a home game against Parkway West High School.
