The winner of a $2 million top prize from a Missouri Lottery “Super Cash Bonanza” scratchers ticket is planning to “lay low” after winning it big earlier this month.
The lucky winner had stopped with a friend at the QuikTrip in Lemay, 2030 Union Road, on Sept. 1 to get gas and drinks when she purchased the scratcher.
“I went in to by my Diet coke and, when I opended my wallet, there were two singles and a $20 bill,” the winner stated in a Missouri Lottery press release. “I bought my soda and thought, ‘Hey, I’m feeling lucky,’ so I asked the clerk if he had a $20 scratchers ticket.
The ticket the clerk handed to hear held on the games top $2 million prizes.
“I scratched the ticket in the car and kept looking at my friend after I matched the first couple of numbers,” the winner said. “I was like, ‘Is this real?’ I was very calm about it.”
She said she rarely buys scratcher tickets and has never bought a $20 game.
“I only bought one ticket and it only takes one,” she said. “I don’t have any immediate big needs, so I’m just going to lay low for a while.”
