Mehlville Fire Protection District firefighters responded Saturday afternoon to a fire in the 2900 block of Royal Seasons Drive in Oakville. Administrative Chief Fire Officer Tim White said the fire began in the garage. ‘… The firefighters did an incredible job at putting a stop to this fire that was so well engulfing the home at a rapid pace because of the gasoline in the garage from the cars. It appeared that the whole house was going to be lost,’ he said. ‘However, because of their actions, they put a stop to it and the fire was put out. I would say over 50 percent of the house was actually saved …’ One of the homeowners attempted to put out the fire before the arrival of firefighters and suffered burns to his hand, White said, adding officials still are investigating the cause of the blaze.
