All elementary schools in the Mehlville School District held a ‘PJs for Police’ event last week, and pajama-wearing students raised more than $10,000 for BackStoppers. The idea to raise money for the family of Officer Blake Snyder, who was killed responding to a call in Green Park Oct. 6, came from Oakville Elementary School students, who are shown above with St. Louis County Officer Mike Schira, center, their school resource officer, or SRO.
