Mehlville School District requesting rezoning for property at Lemay Ferry, Ringer roads

CUP request for union hall to be heard by commission

The county Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing Monday, March 19, on a request by the Mehlville School District to rezone property at the intersection of Lemay Ferry and Ringer roads.

The public hearing will take place at 7 p.m. in the County Council Chambers at the Government Center, 41 S. Central Ave., Clayton.

The school district is requesting rezoning to a C-8 planned commercial district and amended C-8 planned commercial district from a C-2 shopping district and C-8 planned commercial district for 1.93 acres at 5310 and 5320 Lemay Ferry Road.

Offices and a school bus parking facility are proposed uses, according to information provided to the Planning Commission by the school district. The site previously housed a landscaping business.

Mehlville Superintendent Eric Knost declined to comment on the school district’s rezoning request, saying the issue has been a closed-session topic for the Board of Education.

In other business at the March 19 meeting, the Planning Commission is scheduled to conduct public hearings on the following requests:

• National Church Residences of St. Louis I Mo. Inc. is requesting a rezoning change to an R-8, 500-square-foot Residence District from an R-2, 15,0000-square-foot Residence District for 1.44 acres on Telegraph Road to build multiple-family residences for the elderly.

A Planned Environment Unit procedure also is requested for the same site, roughly 375 feet north of Erb Road.

• Laborers’ Local 110 Holding Co. is requesting a conditional-use permit in the NU Non-Urban District for 6.42 acres on the east side of Kerth Road and the west side of Interstate 55, roughly 130 feet north of Coyle Court.
