Mehlville principals, assistant principals, directors receive pay hikes for 2005-’06

Mehlville School District principals, assistant principals and directors received salary increases ranging from 0.5 percent to 1.79 percent for the 2005-2006 school year.

The Board of Education voted 6-1 during a June 30 closed session to approve the salary increases for principals, assistant principals and directors, according to information obtained by the Call under the provisions of the Missouri Open Meetings and Records Law, also called the Sunshine Law. Board member Karl Frank Jr. was opposed.

Board members previously had voted unanimously to approve salary increases averaging 2.4 percent for the district’s teachers for the 2005-2006 school year, according to information obtained by the Call under the provisions of the Sunshine Law. Teachers last year received pay in-creases averaging 2.35 percent.

Salaries approved for high school principals and assistant principals for the 2005-2006 school year are:

• Vince Viviano, Mehlville Senior High principal, $107,544.19, up 1.43 percent from his previous salary of $106,028.70. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $104,189.29.

• William Scheffler, Oakville Senior High School principal, will be paid $104,243.26. Scheffler replaces Eric Knost, who was named the district’s north area superintendent. A May 27 district press release stated Scheffler’s salary would be $103,729, but information provided to the Call from the June 30 closed session listed Scheffler salary as $104,243.26.

• Angelo Colona, Mehlville High assistant principal, $91,369.65, up 0.5 percent from his previous salary of $90,919.28. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $90,065.27.

• Denise Driscoll, Mehlville High assistant principal, $93,680.29, up 1.57 percent from her previous salary of $92,233.14. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $90,393.74.

• Sharon Mackay, Mehlville High assistant principal, $91,369.65, up 0.5 percent from her previous salary of $90,919.28. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $89,079.87.

• Robert Hicks, Mehlville High assistant principal, $83,447.42, up 1.7 percent from his previous salary of $82,050.71. Before that, Dave Mana held the post, retiring in December 2003.

• Janet Anthony, Oakville High assistant principal, $89,719.18, up 1.62 percent from her previous salary of $88,291.56. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $86,452.15.

• Jan Kellerman, Oakville High assistant principal, $91,369.65, up 1.60 percent from her previous salary of $89,933.88. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $88,094.48.

• Brian Lane, Oakville High assistant principal, $88,728.90, up 1.63 percent from his previous salary of $87,306.16. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $83,167.49.

• Arthur “Rocky” Streb, Oakville High assistant principal, $87,738.63, up 1.64 percent from his previous salary of $86,320.76. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $82,182.10.

Salaries approved for middle school principals and assistant principals for the 2005-2006 school year are:

• Michelle Condon, Bernard Middle principal, $98,829.74, up 1.51 percent from her previous salary of $97,357.21. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $93,218.54.

• Scott Hayes, Margaret Buerkle Middle principal, $95,858.91, up 1.54 percent from his previous salary of $94,401.02. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $93,218.54.

• Bob Linderer, Washington Middle principal, $99,820.02, up 1.5 percent from his previous salary of $98,342.60. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $96,503.20.

• Vicki Van Laere, Oakville Middle principal, $100,810.20, up 1.49 percent from her previous salary of $99,328. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $96,503.20.

• Christa Warner, Margaret Buerkle Mid-dle assistant principal, $77,703.81. She re-places Mark Delaney, who decided to take a position nearer to his home in the Francis Howell School District.

• Mike Salsman, Oakville Middle assistant principal, $78,698.69. He replaces Jay Holtmeyer, who decided to return to the classroom as a teacher. Salsman previously served as an assistant principal at Bier-baum Accelerated Elementary School and director of community education.

• Andrew Loiterstein, Washington Mid-dle assistant principal, $80,674.64, up 1.74 percent from his previous salary of $79,291.60. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $77,452.19.

Salaries for the 2005-2006 school year for elementary principals and assistant principals are:

• Jeff Bresler, Rogers Elementary principal, $89,257.05. Bresler replaces Steve Brotherton, who became assistant superintendent for the Bayless School District. Bresler previously served as Bernard Mid-dle assistant principal.

• Ellen Henneberry-Smith, Wohlwend Elementary principal, $100,480.20, up 0.5 percent from her previous salary of $99,984.93. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $99,130.92.

• Steve Langhorst, Bierbaum Accelerated Elementary principal, $98,499.65, up 1.52 percent from his previous salary of $97,028.74. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $95,189.33.

• Amanda Lewis, Oakville Elementary principal, $98,169.55, up 0.5 percent from her previous salary of $97,685.67. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $96,831.66.

• Connie Lohse, Blades Elementary principal, $100,480.20, up 0.5 percent from her previous salary of $99,984.93. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $98,145.53.

• Jennifer Dasher, Beasley Elementary principal, $92,233.28. Dasher replaces Jan Walkonis, who retired, but will continue to serve the district for 550 hours as an assistant elementary principal. Dasher comes from Hancock Elementary School in the Hancock Place School District, where she has been principal for the past three years.

• Bill Schiller, Hagemann Elementary principal, $99,489.92, up 1.51 percent from his previous salary of $98,014.14. For the 2003-2004 school year, his salary was $96,174.73.

• Joan Wiese, Trautwein Elementary principal, $100,480.20, up .5 percent from her previous salary of $99,984.93. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $98,145.53.

• Nancy Zitzmann, Point Elementary principal, $96,519.09, up 1.54 percent from her previous salary of $95,057.95. For the 2003-2004 school year, her salary was $93,218.54.

• Sue Texier, Forder Elementary principal, $91,237.61, up 1.6 percent from her previous salary of $89,802.50. Texier last year replaced former Forder Principal Dex-ter Schraer who retired, but will continue to serve the district for 550 hours as an assistant principal.

• Kathie Fuchs, principal of the Early Childhood Center, $83,843.53, up 1.7 percent from her previous salary of $82,445. Fuchs previously was the district’s early childhood director.

• Melody Gunn, elementary assistant principal at Blades and Trautwein, $74,402.88, up 1.67 percent from her previous salary of $73,183.08.

Salaries for the 2005-2006 school year for directors are:

• Carol Evans, director of prekindergarten through 12th-grade science and math, $79,882.42, up 1.76 percent from her previous salary of $78,503.28.

• Elaine Waldon, director of staff development, $89,785.20, up 1.63 percent from her previous salary of $88,357.25.

• Ed Willis, director of athletics/activities, $78,892.14, up 1.17 percent from his previous salary of $77,977.74

• Joni Wilson, director of communication arts and social studies, $82,193.07 up 1.72 percent from her previous salary of $80,802.54.

• Aurelia Hartenberger, director of fine arts and practical arts, $84,041.59, up 0.5 percent from her previous salary of $83,627.34.

• Yvonne Morris, director of library media and information technology, $77,901.87, up 1.79 percent from her previous salary of $76,532.49.
