Tom Harper, an English language arts teacher at Mehlville High School, was named a Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year, one of 10 educators in the St. Louis area to receive the honor.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be named a regional teacher of the year,” Harper stated in a press release from the district.

Harper, an MHS alum, has dedicated his entire 25-year teaching career to Mehlville, also serving as English department co-chair and coaching boys soccer and girls basketball.

Harper will be recognized with other Missouri Regional Teachers of the Year next month, and he is now eligible to apply for Missouri State Teacher of the Year.
