Due to popular demand, state Rep. Jim Murphy, R-Oakville, and the Mehlville Fire Protection District will host a second “Stop the Bleed” training event on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
The “Stop the Bleed” training is designed to equip participants with skills to manage severe bleeding in emergency situations. The event is part of Missouri C.A.R.E.S. Program statewide CPR Day of Service and will be held at the Bosche Training Center at Mehlville Fire Protection District House 5, 1102 Mueller Road, 63123, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The event is accepting of all skill levels and requires all participants to register at https://mehlvillefire.com/mo-cares-cpr-day-of-service.
The training is free, and upon completion, participants will be given a free “Stop the Bleed Kit” valued at $50.
The importance of such training was highlighted by Rep. Murphy’s son, Jamey, who recently found himself in an emergency where he was unprepared to respond.
“A few weeks ago, there was an accident on (Interstate) 270, and I found myself in a situation where I didn’t know what to do. There was a lot of bleeding, and I had no way to stop it,” Jamey Murphy stated in a press release. “I’m encouraging everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to learn basic medical skills that can save lives.”
