A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Mehlville Fire Protection District for its comprehensive annual financial report, or CAFR, for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2005.

The award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada to government units and public employee retirement systems whose comprehensive annual financial reports achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting, a district news release stated.

The Mehlville Fire Protection District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for the last 10 years and is the only fire protection district in the state of Missouri to receive this award.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
