The Mehlville Board of Education voted unanimously last night — Nov. 28 — to approve tuition-free, full-day kindergarten, which will begin with the 2013-2014 school year.
Superintendent Eric Knost and his staff presented potential enrollment outcomes, curriculum changes and the fiscal feasibility of transitioning to tuition-free, full-day kindergarten.
The district conducted an early enrollment week in October, which aided the research into potential enrollment, and had 512 students enroll.
Adding tuition-free, full-day kindergarten has been a stated goal of the board.
