The Mehlville Board of Education held a special meeting Tuesday to rename the 31-cent operating levy increase, Proposition M, to Proposition E for “Ensuring high-quality teachers and staff for Mehlville School District students.” The measure will appear on the April 4 ballot.

The board voted unanimously for the name change in order to avoid confusion with St. Louis County’s proposition for a recreational marijuana sales tax ballot measure that will also be on the April ballot.

The Board of Education voted 7-0 at its Jan. 19 meeting to place the levy on the ballot. The increase, if passed, would fund competitive salaries and support staff. Read more about the measure here.
