The Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved two facilities bids at its May 18 meeting.

The first bid approved by the board was $231,649 for asphalt repair at Mosaic Elementary School from Byrne & Jones Construction. The bid includes contingency and professional fees. The project is funded by the district’s capital fund.

The other bid approved by the board was phase two of the Bierbaum Elementary renovation project through Proposition S. The work includes razing the old library and constructing a new building with a new library and additional classroom, and a larger storm shelter that can accommodate the school’s population. The bid approved by the board was a $10.634 million bid from K&S Associates which includes professional and contingency fees. Phase two of Bierbaum is funded by a mix of funds from Prop S, the district’s capital fund and money from 2015’s Proposition R.
