Meeting set for Oakville Elementary neighbors

The Mehlville School District soon will begin construction of the new Oakville Elementary School at 2911 Yaeger Road.

To keep the lines of communication open between residents and the school district, an informational meeting will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the cafeteria of Oakville Senior High School, 5557 Milburn Road.

Mehlville officials, including Oakville Elementary Principal Amanda Lewis, will be present. Representatives from Dickinson-Hussman Architects, designers of the new building, and McCarthy Construction Co., construction manager for the project, also will attend.

The new building will be constructed on the same site as the former Oakville Elementary School, which is being razed. The new school will open with the start of the 2004-2005 school year.

During 2003-2004 school year, Oakville Elementary School pupils will attend classes at the former Bernard Elementary School, 1054 Forder Road.

For more information about the meeting, call South Area Superintendent Keith Klusmeyer at 467-5007.
