South County mayors are partnering with the St. Louis Area Foodbank for a countywide “Mayors for Meals” food collection event Saturday, May 9.

Food donations can be dropped off in two South County locations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. : Crestwood Government Center, 1 Detjen Drive, Crestwood

Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., Sunset Hills

Volunteers will be on-site to retrieve items directly from vehicles as people drive up to donate.

All shelf-stable food and personal items are welcome.

With recent strains from COVID-19, the St. Louis Area Foodbank has seen an increase in need by up to 30 percent. It is the region’s largest nonprofit food distributor. The organization partners with more than 500 organizations and pantries to feed almost 400,000 people in its 26-county service territory, including St. Louis County.

Food collected from this drive will help alleviate food insecurity by providing local pantries with a variety of food to meet their community’s needs.
