The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Dec. 2 on suspect Drevon Fitzpatrick, 20, of the 700 block of Biddle Street, 63108, for stealing a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, stealing and second-degree property damage.
Fitzpatrick is being held on a $150,000 cash-only, no 10%, bond.
The charges are merely accusations. Fitzpatrick is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
According to a probable cause statement, while at a convenience store located in the 3900 block of Lemay Ferry Road, the victim flagged down an officer stating that her gray 2013 Hyundai Sonata was stolen.
She stated that the suspect took her vehicle and threw out her cellphone – which was still in the vehicle when he stole it – damaging it.
The victim also stated that her belongings and credit cards were still in the vehicle.
The officer located the stolen vehicle, activating emergency equipment on his marked patrol vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. The officer watched the vehicle attempt to flee before hitting a curb and becoming disabled. The officer then observed the driver – later identified as Fitzpatrick – exit the vehicle and escape on foot, though the officer was able to catch and apprehend him.
Officers observed major damage to one of vehicle’s wheels and its wheel well. Damage to the vehicle exceeds $1,000.
