Lindbergh sets open house for Dressel Elementary

Lindbergh Schools invites community members to tour the brand-new Dressel Elementary School during an open house slated next month.

The open house will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the school, 10911 Tesson Ferry Road.

Dressel will be Lindbergh’s sixth elementary school, serving more than 600 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The state-of-the-art 99,116-square-foot building will provide essential overcrowding relief districtwide, according to a district news release.

Features of the new elementary school include:

• Individual classroom wings for each grade level.

• Two science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, classrooms to enhance student learning and exploration.

• A 21st-century modern, student-centered library.

• Secure front entrance.

• Three Federal Emergency Management Agency-grade tornado shelters that double as multipurpose meeting rooms.

• Accessible, modern playground.

• Energy-efficient LED lighting, mechanical system and light-reflecting roof surface to reduce cooling costs.

• Competition-size gym.

• A new main entrance on Tesson Ferry Road, with secondary access from Musick Avenue.

Dressel Elementary School is named for John Martin Dressel, Lindbergh’s first Board of Education president.
