Lindbergh releases first day of school enrollment data for 2023-24 school year

Lindbergh releases first day of school enrollment data for 2023-24 school year

Enrollment data for Lindbergh Schools from the first semester count day of the 2023-2024 school year was released, showing a decrease of 20 students from last year’s count day.

Though there is a slight deficit, it is important to note that 555 students graduated from Lindbergh High School in May while only 470 kindergarten students entered the district this fall. Based on those numbers alone, the deficit this year should have been 85 students. This means that 65 new students joined the district in another grade level besides kindergarten, covering much of the expected decrease.

It should also be noted that when the current Lindbergh High School senior class began kindergarten, it had a total enrollment of 385 students. This number has grown to 546 students, showing an increase of 161 students over the years. If trends continue – and they should based on historical analysis of enrollment trends pointing to consistent growth – the current kindergarten class could see the same increase over the next 12 years in the district.

2023-24 Enrollment Summary

  • Elementary schools: 3,147 (decrease of 74 students from the 2022-23 school year).
  • Middle schools: 1,738 (increase of 31 students from the 2022-23 school year).
  • High school: 2,279 (increase of 23 students from the 2022-23 school year).
  • District total: 7,164 (decrease of 20 students from the 2022-23 school year).

The Board of Education reviewed the data at its Oct. 17 meeting with little discussion.
