Lindbergh Flyers head coach Nathan Norman has coached football for 25 years, going on 11 at Lindbergh, and enjoys working with an underdog team.
Following a 3-7 finish in the 2025 season, Norman says it’s no secret the team uncharacteristically fell short last year with their first losing record since 2019, but the Flyers are ready to jump back into the fray.
Norman explains the best thing you can do as a coach is to focus on the team’s personal improvement and not worry as much about the opponent, pointing to the addition of a few new offensive linemen on the line of scrimmage, which he says will help the team this season.
“We feel like this year our kids have had a very strong offseason. They’ve worked well together,” he said. “We’re excited to get back on the up and up, and excited for the season to start and looking forward to seeing the kids compete and play.”
Norman has a unique connection with the squad as both a coach and a parent. His son, Noah, is a senior member of the team.
“With having such a large senior class, that usually makes it a little bit easier as the head coach, especially if it’s a good group. They’ve been close-knit ever since they were in middle school,” Norman said. “They support each other, they encourage and compete (with) each other and hold each other accountable.”
The team’s roster of 62 players boasts 22 seniors with two athletes already committed to play at their future universities.
All-Conference and third team All-State Noah Norman — the son of coach Norman — committed to Southeast Missouri State University. He ended the 2025 season with 80 tackles, 9 touchdowns and 350 yards.
All-Conference and third team All-State Jameson Honey committed to Northern Illinois University and ended the 2025 season with 12 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and 65 total tackles.
The team will be led by six captains: seniors Noah Norman as middle linebacker and running back, Jameson Honey as defensive end and offensive guard, Kevin Fisher as running back, Carter Holmes as wide receiver and corner, Michael Feit as offensive center and Colby Bangert as quarterback.
The Flyers will open the season on Aug. 27 with a home game against St. John Vianney High School. Lindbergh will then face off against Oakville High School on the Tigers’ turf on Sept. 3.
