New and returning Lindbergh and Mehlville school board members were sworn in last week after receiving the most votes in the April 2 election.
In Lindbergh, newcomer Rachel Braaf Koehler and incumbent Megan Vedder took their seats on the Board of Education April 9. They earned the most votes of the four candidates seeking the two open seats on the school board. Braaf Koehler takes the seat of Mike Shamia, who did not seek reelection.
Braaf Koehler received 6,089 votes, or 30.35%, while Vedder received 6,056 votes, or 30.18%.
In Mehlville, incumbents Tori Behlke and Patrick McKelvey were sworn in April 11 for their next term on the school board. Behlke and McKelvey were part of a four-candidate field seeking two seats for a three-year term on the board.
Also in Mehlville, incumbents Peggy Hassler and Jean Pretto were sworn in for a two-year term. Hassler and Pretto garnered the most votes out of a field of six candidates running for the two two-year term seats on the Mehlville school board.
Behlke and McKelvey received 4,415 votes (27.14%) and 4,453 votes (27.61%) respectively, while Hassler garnered 4,302 votes (25.99%) and Pretto earned 3,789 votes (22.89%).
Each board also elected its new president, vice president, secretary and other members.
In Lindbergh, Christy Watz was selected as president and Jennifer Miller was named vice president. Vedder was selected as secretary and Matt Alonzo was appointed as treasurer.
In Mehlville, Hassler and Behlke were nominated as president and vice president respectively, while McKelvey was named secretary. Mehlville Chief Financial Officer Marshall Crutcher was selected as treasurer.
