The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Friday for St. Louis and the surrounding areas. The warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday.
The report said heat index values may reach up to 105 degrees. These temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illness.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” the NWS stated.
The counties affected are Calhoun, Jersey, Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis, St. Louis city and Jefferson.
