A former Mehlville School District information technology employee will face child pornography charges July 3 in a hearing at the St. Louis County Courthouse.

Barnhart resident Thomas R. Mantle, 43, was originally charged April 17 with three counts of first-degree promotion of child pornography and two counts of second-degree promotion of child pornography.

The alleged pornographic images were viewed on a school district computer in the Information Technology Department, which is in an annex of the Administration Building. Mantle was arrested and later released on bond after a New Hampshire police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy notified St. Louis County Police of Mantle’s alleged e-mailing of child pornography.

Mantle’s hearing was initially set for May 15, but he was granted a continuance. At the July 3 court date, county prosecuting attorney’s representatives said Mantle would simply be read his charges and notified of his next court date.
