An accident last week on Gravois Road left one teenager dead and two others injured after the car the teen was riding in struck a utility pole in the early hours of Oct. 29.

According to a release from St. Louis County Police, the accident happened at approximately 1:20 a.m. near Gravois Road and Cinnabar Drive in the Sappington area of South County.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Lexus sedan that the teen and five other passengers were riding in was traveling at high speed on eastbound Gravois when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Quintyn Lewis, 17, was pronounced dead the scene. A second passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and a third was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and released. The driver and two other passengers were not hurt.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Lewis’s family. Lewis was a student at Lindbergh High School and played basketball and volleyball.

“Quintyn always made us laugh, and he was kind to everyone. Everyone who had the pleasure to meet Quintyn loved him, Fundraiser organizers said.

Police continue to investigate the accident and encourage anyone with information to call the St. Louis County Police at 636-529-8210, or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477 to remain anonymous.
