The Gardenville Masonic Temple, 8230 Gravois Road, has been sold. Built in 1926, it was a meeting place for the Gardenville-Cache Lodge of the Freemasons organization.
“It was one of the cornerstones of the neighborhood so many years ago, because that part of Affton was more rural, back then,” member Henry Eirich said. “They didn’t have all the stuff you have around Affton right now.”
Now, members of the lodge have relocated to Noble Lodge, 12545 Fee Fee Road, in the lower level of Moolah Shrine Center Gym in Maryland Heights, where meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of most months.
Eirich was a seller of the Gardenville Masonic Temple. His grandfather and uncle were both charter members of that masonic lodge, seven of his family members have been a part of it and he has fifty years of his own membership under his belt. For years, he has managed and maintained the building and its utilities.
“I’m happy the building’s sold,” Eirich said. “It’s an extra job to have something that you’re responsible for.”
The transaction was completed with the help of broker Jeff Price from the Hilliker Corporation. Eirich does not yet know the plans for the building at 8230 Gravois Road.
“Hopefully they do very well there,” Eirich said. “I wish nothing but good luck to them.”
