Eight other local elementary schools will take on Ballwin’s Twin Oaks Christian and Crestwood’s Holy Cross — last year’s first- and second-place winners— in the fourth annual art show at Fountain View Assisted Living, Friendship Village Sunset Hills.
On display from May 5 to May 12, the “Young at Art Show” will kick off with an open house and refreshments from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 5.
Ten schools will present from five to 20 special pieces in any medium, of any size, created by their students.
The rules ask for unframed pieces and allow for three-dimensional arts, according to a news release.
During the exhibition, visitors will vote — one vote per person — on the best school gallery display. The school with the most votes receives a $1,000 stipend for first place with the second-place finisher getting a $500 check from Fountain View.
Sarah Dalrymple, Fountain View residency counselor, stated the “Young at Art Show” will celebrate art and the art of being young with the Fountain View Assisted Living senior community.
Participating schools include a cross-section of area private elementary and parochial schools: Apprende and Christ Community Lutheran, Kirkwood; Rohan Woods and St. Paul’s Lutheran; St. Paul, Fenton; Holy Cross Academy, Crestwood; Twin Oaks Christian School and Christ Prince of Peace, Ballwin; St. John’s Lutheran, Arnold; and Our Lady Queen of Peace, House Springs.
Last year, Twin Oaks and Holy Cross topped a field of seven schools.
