Ernest Jordan, above, a Vietnam veteran, was honored last week at Crestwood’s annual Veterans Day ceremony. Mayor Gregg Roby presented Jordan, who formed the Friends of Father Dickson Cemetery in 1988, with a proclamation stating the cemetery ‘was established in 1903 as a final resting place for African Americans due to segregation at that time,’ and is the final resting place of veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
The proclamation also noted that Jordan ‘has made a significant contribution not only to the cemetery, but to our city’s history.’ Sen. Scott Sifton, D-Crestwood, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
