Forums set for Crestwood, Mehlville school board

Residents in Crestwood and the Mehlville School District soon will have a chance to meet candidates in the April 7 election for elected office as forums have been scheduled.

The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Meet the Candidates forum for Crestwood Board of Aldermen candidates at 7:30 p.m. today — March 19 — at Crestview Senior Living, 8660 Grant Road.

The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

In Ward 1, Mary “Mimi” Duncan is unopposed for a one-year term and Darryl Wallach is unopposed for a three-year term.

In Ward 2, Board of Aldermen President Chris Pickel is unopposed for a three-year term while Jeff Baker and Jeff Schlink will challenge Ward 2 Alderman Mike Kelsch for a one-year term.

In Ward 3, Jack Bazzell and Paul Duchild will vie for a three-year term.

In Ward 4, Debbie Beezley will challenge Ward 4 Alderman Steve Nieder for a three-year term.

The Mehlville Legislative Network will sponsor a forum for candidates to the Mehlville Board of Education at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Mehlville Senior High School library, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road.

The format of the Mehlville forum will include introductory remarks by each of the five candidates, a question-and-answer session and closing remarks.

The candidates running for Mehlville Board of Education are board President Tom Diehl, William Klemm, Linda Mooy, board Vice President Micheal Ocello and Gary “Brit” Rose.

Voters will elect two of those five candidates to a three-year term.
