Boy Scout Chris James of Troop 331, a sophomore at Mehlville Senior High School, has created several retirement boxes for American flags as part of his Eagle Scout project.
The boxes are at the Mehlville Fire Protection District’s No. 2 House on Telegraph Road, the No. 5 House on Mueller Road and the No. 3 House at Lindbergh Boulevard and Sappington Road. A box also is at the Affton Fire Protection District’s firehouse on Gravois Road.
Torn and tattered U.S. flags will be picked up once a month and properly retired by the Boy Scouts.
