Fire district OKs sale of No. 1 house to MoDOT

The Mehlville Fire Protection District will sell its No. 1 house at 7409 S. Lindbergh Blvd. to make way for improvements planned by the Missouri Department of Transportation at the intersection of Lindbergh Boulevard and Lemay Ferry Road.

MoDOT will pay the Mehlville Fire Protection District $1,150,000 for the site under the terms of an agreement which was unanimously approved Monday night by the district’s Board of Directors.

MoDot will improve the intersection by adding dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes at all approaches of the intersection. Construction, which will cost an estimated $2.25 million, will begin in July and is expected to be completed by late 2005.

Access to the No. 1 house, which will remain in operation until February 2005, will not be affected during construction.

The fire district plans to build a new No. 1 house at an as-yet undetermined site.
