Filing under way for April election

Candidate filing is under way for municipal seats and school-board seats that are up for election Tuesday, April 3.

Filing will continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

In Crestwood, five aldermanic seats are up for election. Seats held by Darryl Wallach of Ward 1, Chris Pickel and Steve Knarr of Ward 2, Paul Duchild of Ward 3 and Deborah Beezley of Ward 4 will be up for election in April.

Four of the seats carry three-year terms while the seat held by Knarr will carry a one-year term.

Filing so far are Duchild in Ward 3 and Dan Tennessen, 12142 Lowill Lane, and Steve Nieder, 9131 Cherry Brook Lane, in Ward 4. Nieder served as an alderman from 2006 to 2009.

In Green Park, aldermanic seats held by Carol Hamilton, Jackie Wilson and Fred Baras will be up for election.

All of the Green Park seats carry two-year terms.

Filing so far are Hamilton, Wilson and Baras.

In Sunset Hills, the mayoral seat held by Bill Nolan will be up for election April 3. Aldermanic seats held by Frank Hardy of Ward 1, Tom Hrastich of Ward 2, Stephen Webb of Ward 3 and Claudia Svoboda of Ward 4 also will be up for election.

All of the Sunset Hills seats carry two-year terms.

Filing so far are Nolan for the mayoral post, along with Hardy for the Ward 1 aldermanic seat and Hrastich for the Ward 2 aldermanic seat. Also, Richard Gau, 13019 Tapawingo Place, filed for the Ward 1 aldermanic seat while former Mayor Mike Svoboda, 10231 Kennerly Road, has filed for the Ward 4 aldermanic seat currently held by his wife.

Besides the municipal seats, seats on both the Lindbergh and Mehlville boards of education will be up for election April 3.

In Lindbergh, seats held by Ken Fey and Mark Rudoff will be up for election.

Candidates filing so far are James Goss, 11681 Rossmoor Lane; Karen Schuster, 31 Sappington Acres Drive; and Kate Holloway, 11043 Rambling Oaks Drive.

In Mehlville, seats held by Tom Diehl and Ron Fedorchak will be up for election.

Fedorchak, who was appointed to the board to fill a vacancy when former board member Micheal Ocello resigned, has filed.

The Lindbergh and Mehlville seats carry three-year terms.

Filing in Grantwood Village opened Tuesday — after the Call went to press — and continues through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Two seats on the Board of Trustees are up for election — those held by Chairwoman Cathy Forand and Village Clerk Pat Williams.

The seats carry two-year terms.

The list of candidates who have filed was current as of press time. Additional candidates may have filed since then.
