Filing starts Tuesday for April 6 elections

Filing opens next week for a number of area governmental positions that are up for election April 6.

Filing begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and will continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The Sunset Hills mayoral seat is up for election, as are aldermanic seats in Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills. Seats on the Lindbergh and Mehlville boards of education also are up for election.

Crestwood

Four seats on the Board of Aldermen — one from each ward — are up for election.

Seats currently held by Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan, Ward 2 Alderman Jeff Schlink, Ward 3 Alderman Jerry Miguel and Ward 4 Alderman John Foote are up for election.

The seats carry three-year terms.

Green Park

Three seats on the Board of Aldermen — one from each ward — are up for election.

Seats currently held by Ward 1 Alderman Carol Hamilton, Ward 2 Alderman Jackie Wilson and Ward 3 Alderman Fred Baras are up for election.

The seats carry two-year terms.

Sunset Hills

The mayoral seat held by Mike Svoboda, who was elected in April 2008, is up for election.

Aldermanic seats currently held by Frank Hardy of Ward 1, Thomas Hrastich of Ward 2, Stephen Webb of Ward 3 and Frank Gregory of Ward 4 also are up for election.

Both the mayoral and aldermanic seats carry two-year terms.

Lindbergh school board

Seats on the Lindbergh Board of Education currently held by Vice President Vic Lenz and David Peek are up for election.

The seats carry three-year terms.

Mehlville school board

Seats on the Mehlville Board of Education currently held by Vice President Venki Palamand and Secretary Larry Felton are up for election.

The seats carry three-year terms.

Under state law, if the number of school-board candidates who file is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election, no election will be conducted.

However, if the number of candidates filing exceeds the number of positions, an election will take place April 6.
