Filing now under way for April election

Both the Mehlville and Lindbergh school districts will have school board elections in April as four candidates have filed for three open seats at each district.

For Crestwood, Sunset Hills, Green Park and the Mehlville Fire Protection District, incumbents had no challengers at press time.

Mayoral and aldermanic seats are up for election in Crestwood and Green Park, and aldermanic seats are up for election in Sunset Hills.

The Mehlville Fire Protection District has two open seats on its three-member Board of Directors.

Filing for the April election began Dec. 14, and concludes at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18.

In the Mehlville School District, Board of Education seats held by President Cindy Christopher, Vice President Matthew Chellis and Secretary Marea Kluth-Hoppe are up for election.

Christopher and Kluth-Hoppe have filed for re-election, but Chellis has not.

Karl Frank Jr., 5682 Winter Garden Court, 63129, is making another run at the post after running unsuccessfully last year. Ken Leach, 7100 Becker Road, 63129, also filed.

The seats carry three-year terms. Filing is at the district’s Administration Building, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road.

In the Lindbergh School District, Board of Education seats held by President Mark Rudoff, Vice President Barry Cooper and Katie Wesselschmidt are up for election.

All three have filed for re-election. Bob Foerstel, 9815 Eagle Hill Lane, 63127, also filed.

The seats carry three-year terms. Can-didates can file at the district’s Admini-stration Building, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

Crestwood Mayor Tom Fagan has filed for re-election after winning election in August to fill the remaining term of former Mayor Jim Robertson, who resigned in January. The post carries a three-year term.

Also, Ward 4 Alderman Joseph O’Keefe filed to retain his seat. He was appointed to serve the remainder of Fagan’s term. The election will determine who will serve the remainder of the term to 2006.

Normally, the seat would carry a three-year term.

Filing is at Crestwood City Hall, 1 Detjen Drive.

In Green Park, Mayor Steve Armstrong has filed to serve another two-year term.

Also up for election are the aldermanic seats of Judy DeWitt of Ward 1, Chuck Deters of Ward 2 and Mark Hayden of Ward 3.

Deters and Hayden have filed, but De-Witt has not. No other challengers have filed at this point.

The seats carry two-year terms. Can-didates can file at the Green Park City Hall, 11100 Mueller Road, Suite 2.

In Sunset Hills, aldermanic seats held by Ward 1 Alderman Michael Sawicki, Ward 2 Alderman John Littlefield, Ward 3 Al-derman Jan Hoffmann and Ward 4 Alder-man Donald Parker are up for election.

Each incumbent has filed for re-election.

The seats carry two-year terms, and candidates can file at the Sunset Hills City Hall, 3939 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

In the Mehlville Fire Protection District, two seats on the three-member Board of Directors are up for election.

Chairman Tom O’Driscoll, whose seat carries a six-year term, and Secretary David Gralike, whose seat carries a four-year term, have filed for re-election and face no challenger at this point.

Gralike was appointed to the board in 2003 to fill the seat vacated by the late Joe Gaterman, a former MFPD chief who lost his battle with cancer shortly after being elected.

Candidates can file at the Mehlville Fire Protection District headquarters, 11020 Mueller Road.
