An extreme heat warning will be in effect Monday afternoon through 7 p.m. Thursday for St. Louis County and surrounding areas.
The National Weather Service of St. Louis said that heat index values up to 114 degrees are anticipated.
The counties affected by the warning in Missouri are St. Louis County, St. Louis City, Jefferson and St. Charles. The counties affected by the warning in Illinois are Madison, St. Clair and Monroe, which includes the cities of Edwardsville, Cahokia, Alton and Belleville.
