The Call’s team has worked hard through the years to keep our community informed. Wrapping up the municipal April 2 election coverage in the current April 24, 2024 edition, I want to congratulate the candidates and community for the turnout of members in their neighborhoods expressing a genuine interest to serve as a school board member, local city alderman or mayor.
The Call is proud of those willing to give time and commitment as a representative for their neighborhood, and equally proud to present an open platform for candidates and readers alike.
A candidate’s own words help readers make voting decisions through an open platform for all candidates.
The newspaper believes informed citizens make the best voters. Living in a “nation of newspapers,” the U.S. Constitution created a new freedom, the freedom of speech, chosen as its First Amendment to provide every citizen in this country, this proud nation, a way to seek and share information.
This is an election year, with primary elections and the General Election next. Make sure to vote, as voting is a benefit no citizen wants to miss out on.
Informed citizens and elected officials understand what is at stake and believe that the hard-fought freedoms of the people they serve have a right to be protected. Further, a nation that invests in the candidates willing to serve, the constituency willing to vote and the community newspapers willing to inform, believe and understand input from each candidate, voter and newspaper is an investment in the community’s knowledge to help it continue to communicate and work out ways for continual growth.
Our readers have been reached through the mail with a free newspaper since 1989.
Readers have access to the community through submissions to the newspaper and letters to the editor.
Through the years, Call Newspapers has expanded its communication capabilities from print and mail through the weekly St. Louis Call to 24/7 online access at callnewspapers.com. Social media and a high-frequency enewsletter, OnCall, have also been added.
