The City of Crestwood launched its new Bicycle and Scooter Registration Program last month. Crestwood residents are able to register their bicycle or scooter, giving officers identifying information that would allow them to return these items to their proper owners when they are lost or stolen.
“Business Resource Officer Matt Hill has initiated a few new programs since stepping into his role in April of this year, including fraud prevention awareness, business safety seminars/talks and the bike and scooter registration,” Crestwood communications manager AJ McNaughton said. “While this program isn’t a resource for businesses, part of his role involves coordination and presentation of public safety and education programs. Officer Hill recognized that this program would bring value to the community.”
To register, residents are asked to fill out a form with identifying information such as their name and address, along with information about the item. A serial number is required — on the underside of the frame where the pedals attach on bikes, and on a manufacturer’s label attached to the frame or underneath the deck on scooters.
After registering, residents can pick up their registration sticker for the bike or scooter at the Crestwood Police Department, 1 Detjen Drive.
