Crestwood board votes 7-1 to set 2009 tax rates

The Crestwood Board of Aldermen voted 7-1 Aug. 25 — Ward 1 Alderman Darryl Wallach was opposed — to set the city’s 2009 tax rates.

The 2009 rates, per $100 of assessed valuation, are residential, 22.3 cents; residential-Proposition S, 19.8 cents; commercial, 30.1 cents; commercial-Prop S, 20 cents; personal, 27.9 cents; and personal-Prop S, 20 cents.

Certified assessed valuations for 2009 are residential, $178,123,920; commercial, $80,500,951; and personal, $31,199,988.

The 2008 tax rates, per $100 of assessed valuation, were residential, 20.9 cents; residential-Prop S, 16.9 cents; commercial, 30 cents; commercial-Prop S, 20 cents; personal, 27.9 cents; and personal-Prop S, 20 cents.

Assessed valuations for last year were residential, $190,092,960; commercial, $77,008,110; and personal, $32,121,930.

Wallach said he was opposed to increasing the residential property tax rates be-cause residential assessed valuation has decreased since last year.

The 2009 tax rates are leveled at the ceiling for all categories.
