Crestwood Board of Aldermen approves $98,000 salary for new city administrator

Board voted in early January to name Sime administrator

Mark Sime, Crestwood’s new city administrator, will be paid $98,000 annually and will not have a contract.

The Board of Aldermen unanimously approved an ordinance last week regarding compensation and other employment terms for Sime. Sime also will receive four weeks’ vacation per calendar year and “any outside employment or consulting engagements shall be disclosed,” according to information provided to the board.

Sime will not have a contract with the city, unlike former City Administrator Petree Eastman, who also was paid $98,000 annually.

The board voted unanimously to approve Sime’s appointment at its Jan. 8 meeting.

Mayor Jeff Schlink said Sime’s start date has not yet been finalized, but Sime, a retired Air Force colonel and city resident, is expected to begin his duties in the next two to four weeks.

Schlink formed a City Administrator Candidate Search Committee in June, which consisted of Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan, Ward 3 Alderman Paul Duchild and Ward 4 Alderman Dan Tennessen.

The committee assisted Schlink in determining who the top candidates were for the position.

Now-retired Fire Chief Karl Kestler has served as acting city administrator March, when Eastman separated from the city.
