Officials from both St. Louis County and St. Louis city are joining forces to help residents donate to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas.
Two locations in the county and one site in the city will be set up Saturday, Sept. 16, to collect items for victims of the hurricane, which dropped nearly 50 inches of rain on residents of Houston, Texas, in late August.
The drive is being coordinated through joint efforts of County Executive Steve Stenger, St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson and the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation.
Volunteers staffing the drives will collect new or used furniture, clothing, blankets, sheets, pillows, toiletries and home-related accessories that trucks will then deliver to the Houston area.
All donation sites will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Non-perishable items are not being collected at any of the drives.
Every donation will go directly to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
