Police officers and firefighters in South County will be distributing 1,000 boxes of nonperishable goods Thursday in a “Community Food Drive for COVID-19” aimed at those in need.

The care package distribution will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the parking lot of St. Matthias Church, 800 Buckley Road, 63125.

Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department, firefighters from the Mehlville, Lemay and Affton fire districts and employees of Reinhold Electric will be handing out boxes.

Families in need in the community will be able to pick up the boxes, while supplies last. Each family will also receive a smoke detector.

The boxes will include paper towels, soap, ravioli, pasta, soups, toothpaste, applesauce, oatmeal, pancake mix and other goods.
